The whole story
The Tailwind color scale generator I used day to day moved behind a paywall. Rather than pay rent on an eleven-step ramp, I built and published a free replacement: full 50–950 scales from any hex, exported as Figma variables, Tailwind config, CSS custom properties, or JSON.
It is live on Figma Community. Anyone can install it and check.
Why a small tool is on a sales page
This is a receipt, not a flagship. Its job is one sentence long: this person ships tooling, not just screens. Three things follow from it without needing to be argued.
- The loop closes. Noticed a friction, built the fix, published it, maintained it. Most designers file a complaint.
- The work happens at the token layer. The output is design system infrastructure — variables and config, not swatches. Same competence the retainer sells, in miniature.
- It shipped to strangers. Public distribution, public install count, public reviews. A very different risk profile from a portfolio of internal work nobody outside the company can verify.
Free forever
It exists because I wanted it to exist, which is generally the reason the useful tools exist.
